The Sony’s new launch, Xperia Acro S is a British sibling of the Acro HD smartphones which was launched in Japan in March. This new avatar shares a good number of its spec line up with its predecessor, Sony Xperia S. The major difference lies in the fact that this particular model holds an IP55 and IP57 certifications that makes it free from dust ingress and also a water resistant device and can survive for as long as 30 minutes when submerged in up to a meter deep water. As far its design, the transparent strip that characterized the previous Xperia phones has been removed from it.
The Xperia Acro S is a rather thick than some of the top line smartphones, standing at 11.9 mm, but makes up for it by bringing some extra protection and a comfortable grip. Running on the latest Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS out of the box, it sports a 4.3-inch display with an impressive resolution of 720x1280 pixels, a Mobile BRAVIA engine for improved colors and better contrast, which is further enhanced by a striking 342 ppi density which is one of the highest pixel densities for a screen in the market presently.
It packs in a dual-core S3 Snapdragon MSM8260 chipset clocked at a speed of 1.5 GHz, 1GB of RAM and a comprehensive connectivity options including 3G, Wi-Fi , the standard HDMI, DLNA , NFC and MHL which enables the user to watch content on their TV through high-definition signals.
